I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking I should be totally ashamed of myself. I know, I know, an American eating at McDonald’s for his first meal in a foreign country is a totally unforgivable faux pas.
Under normal circumstances, I would wholeheartedly agree. But this is India and the meal in question involves what is widely considered to be the best McDonald’s burger in the world. We’re talking about the infamous McDonald’s Maharaja Mac.
The Best McDonald’s Burger In The World Is…
Behold, McDonald’s Maharaja Mac
In my defense, I had just flown 28+ hours and just wanted a quick meal that would be tasty and filling but also not too gastronomically risky for ‘night one’. Luckily, turns out there was a McDonald’s in a little mall next door to my hotel that was still open.
Let me first note that I have tried many different McDonald’s burgers in countries all over the world. Some were great and some were not great. But this burger was something different. You can find countless videos on YouTube that pay homage to this burger, and it frequently factors into “Top 10 McD’s Items in the World” lists. This burger was so good it brought a tear to my eye — and I’m not talking about because of the oh-so-perfectly-spiced habanero sauce.
The burger itself is a take on the Big Mac with some very important twists; Beef patties are replaced by two McDonald’s chicken patties (for religious and cultural reasons there are NO beef patties on the burgers in India) and topped with some very spicy habanero sauce and jalapenos that bring the heat in a slow but sustained, strong but not overpowering manner. Tomatoes, onions, cheese and lettuce complete the burger. The end result is magical.Â
The McSpicy Paneer
The Creamy, Spicy, Crunchy Paneer burger is also amazing and definitely worth a try!
The bottom line:Â The Best McDonald’s Burger In The World Is…
This was absolutely the one of the best McDonald’s burgers I ever had anywhere in the world. Quite possibly the best.Â
What is the best McDonald’s burger in the world? What do you think?
