Well that was unexpected.
Surprise Revaluation: M Life / Fine Hotels & Resorts
Over the weekend, I made the drive out to Las Vegas for a last-minute getaway.
We decided to stay at Delano, one of our favorite Vegas hotels.
There I was, minding my own business, reading the Delano / Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) welcome letter when I spotted spotted something so surprising I had to read it three times…a “surprise revaluation”!
Fine Hotels & Resorts
I love Delano because it’s an “all-suites hotel” and because of its participation in the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program.
Another reason I love Delano is because they’ve treated me very well in the past, with amazing upgrades, comps, and discounts.

M Life
I also love Delano because it’s an M Life hotel and has an affiliation with Hyatt.
The Surprise Revaluation
After years of subsequent devaluations from M Life and Fine Hotels & Resorts including:
- Narrowing the $100 food and beverage credit to exclude many “choice” restaurants
- Limiting of the benefit to “select” establishments only in the same hotel as your stay
- And “the dealbreaker” of them all – the change of the $100 food beverage credit to a $100 spa credit (at some hotels)
The “good news” during the pandemic was that the $100 food and beverage credit was [understandably] restored to M Life hotels.
Now, we have confirmation that the ability to use the $100 food and beverage credit at any M Life hotel in Las Vegas has been restored (see “dot #6” in the welcome letter below).
This means, you can now use the $100 credit at 120 MGM Resorts restaurants, bars, and lounges throughout Las Vegas.
Of course restrictions apply, and not all restaurants, bars, and lounges located in MGM Resorts are eligible for the credit (I’m looking at you Kumi and Fix Restaurant & Bar).
The Bottom-Line: Surprise M Life / Fine Hotels & Resorts Revaluation
In our case, we used our $100 Delano / FHR food and beverage credit at the excellent Morimoto Las Vegas (at MGM Grand) and we had an incredible night out.
We went with the Whitefish Carpaccio (must-try), the Ishi Yaki Chashu Bop (the plate that won Morimoto the Iron Chef contest), assorted sushi, and Suiyoubi No Neko beer. Let’s just say Morimoto won Iron Chef for a reason.
As you know, revaluations are rare in the world of points & miles.
When they do come along, it’s best to take advantage of them while you can – because they may not stick around for long.
