Review: White Boutique Hotel & Spa (Chiang Mai, Thailand)

From Luang Prabang in Laos, we flew to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

As with our last destination, we decided to again forgo the “points game” and go “independent” on the hotel front.

We decided on the very reasonably priced White Boutique Hotel and Spa, but was it a good choice?

Review: White Boutique Hotel & Spa (Chiang Mai, Thailand)

We chose the White Boutique Hotel and Spa based on location, price, and the fact it served free breakfast daily.

The location of the hotel was Southeast of the Old City, just outside the wall.

Overall the location was good – just a short walking distance to most of the dining and vibrant attractions on the East side of Chiang Mai.

The Front Desk & Lobby

The front desk and lobby, like the hotel itself, were modest although just ornate enough to appear higher-end then they actually were.

Check-in was quick, fluent English and Thai were spoken, and the front desk staff were very polite.

The Two Twin Room

That “modest but high-end appearance” theme carried over to the room, which was basic but decorated in such a way as to feel more upscale than it was.

The room was comfortable and clean, and came with all the basic standard amenities, including a strong A/C unit.

The Bathroom

The brightest spot of the room was the bathroom, which really was actually upscale.

In fact, it almost felt like the bathroom had been fully renovated while the rest of the room was forgotten about.

The Swimming Pool

The most picturesque space of the hotel was easily the pool, which was a perfect little hideaway in the concrete jungle that is Chiang Mai.

The Complimentary Breakfast Buffet

Complimentary breakfast was served daily in the building across from the lobby.

The dining room was small, but offered a sufficient array of food options including Thai, Chinese, and Western dishes as well as coffee, breads, and fruit.

Although it wasn’t the most gourmet breakfast we ever ate at a free hotel buffet, the food was tasty and filling.

The Spa

The White Boutique Hotel and Spa also appeared to have a large spa that was open to hotel customers as well as the general public.

Review: White Boutique Hotel & Spa (Chiang Mai, Thailand)

Overall, we had a good experience at the White Boutique Hotel and Spa.

In truth, most of our time in Chiang Mai was spent exploring the City or on tour. However, what little time we did spend at the hotel we enjoyed as it was clean and felt safe.

Priced at just around $25 USD per night, this hotel had a “big bang for the buck” and I could easily recommend it to those traveling on a budget.

Cheers!
