Leaving Amsterdam was hard, especially at 4:00 am.

Nevertheless, I checked-out of The Hyatt Regency Amsterdam and caught the first train to Brussels, Belgium, where I’d be staying a few nights at The Hotel.

Would I recommend it?

About The Hotel.

The taxi-driver that picked me up of course asked where I’d be staying. When I mentioned “The Hotel” his eyes lit-up, and he began to tell me it was the most famous hotel in Brussels. He told me that President Obama once stayed there and that it was located in one of the best parts of the city.

Here’s an official marketing video from The Hotel.

The Redemption

The Hotel is not a part of a major hotel chain with an international loyalty program, therefore I opted to redeem this hotel with my Citi Thank You points.

The redemption was 11,503 Citi Thank You points per night, the equivalent of $143.79 USD.

This gave me a CPP of 1.25, the standard for holders of the Citi Premier credit card.

The Lobby And Check-in

The lobby – like the rest of the hotel – was dark, elegant and beautiful.

There were high-end displays from Cartier at the entrance, and gorgeous orange-hued ceiling lighting which were unmissable upon entering the building.

Gorgeous

Check-in was standard. The front-desk staff was quick and efficient.

The Walk To My Room

Clearly, The Hotel was going for a posh and high-end fashionable experience.

This was evident on the walk to the elevators and in every corner of the hotel.

The Superior Double Room

With no elite status, I was [unsurprisingly] not given an upgrade.

No matter, I was very pleased with my room. It was sleek and clean, with quality bedding, pillows and a comfortable couch.

Room Amenities

The room came with all the standard [upscale European] amenities: Nespresso, bottled water, and upscale tea.

It also came with a pair of complimentary Stella beers.

Coffee, refrigerator, safe

Complementary Stella Beers! (and other complimentary stuff)

The Nespresso Machine: A European standard

The Bathroom

The bathroom had the same color scheme and decor as the room, and that was a good thing.

Boulevard De Waterloo At Night

The location of The Hotel was excellent. There was a multitude of great shopping and eateries on Boulevard de Waterloo.

Quite an impressive kick-flip. Skate or die at the EU!

The Bottom-Line Review: The Hotel. (Brussels, Belgium)

I’ll keep this short. I really liked The Hotel.

In my mind, I’ll be staying there again the next time I visit Brussels.

Final Rating: 8 out of 10 – The location was great, the rooms were upscale, and the overall hotel experience was the perfect nexus between luxury and value. Highly recommended.
