The Bottom-Line Review: Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa
Wow, we really enjoyed our stay at Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa. We can easily rate it an 8.5 out of 10 for its excellent location on Kaanapali Beach (walking distance to Whaler’s Village), epic ocean views, and convenient access to some of the best snorkeling spots in Maui (including its very own spot, Black Rock, where guests can experience a large variety of marine life just steps off the beach). As Bonvoy Platinum members, we felt the 2 Double Beds Suite [upgrade] was an excellent usage of our Suite Upgrade Awards, and the complimentary continental breakfast was both filling and a good value (we even opted for it more than the buffet upgrade). Overall, the property really shined with a fun atmosphere, a beautiful pool area, plenty of on-property activities, and an overall awesome “Maui vibe”.Â
That said, nothing is ever perfect, not even in paradise. Despite its many strengths, the resort did show some obvious signs of age. Elements like paint, carpet, furniture, curtains, etc., need an aggressive refresh to keep pace with some of the neighboring hotel competition. While not overwhelming, the age factor slightly detracted from the overall experience only because it was so easy to imagine what a renovated Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa would look and feel like.Â
Nevertheless, the beautiful property, excellent service, prime location, plentiful amenities – and all-important huge “fun factor,” make Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa an excellent choice for travelers seeking an amazing Hawaiian getaway for a reasonable price – or better yet – an amazing Bonvoy point redemption (we got 1.6 CPP!). We recommend Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa for fun-seeking travelers of all stripes – including families, couples, and solo travelers. Aloha!
