Review: Sheraton Grand Los Angeles

Location, Location, Location:

With the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles, it’s all about location, location, location. Situated in the trendy south end of the Downtown L.A. Financial District that runs along 7th Street, the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles literally has its own shopping mall with a Macy’s (The BLOC) and Subway Metro Station Entrance (7th Street/Metro Center). There is also a DASH bus line that runs directly south down Flower to the Staples Center, Microsoft Theater and L.A. Live.

The Check-In:

The check-in was quick and hassle free. In fact, the service was notably standout-great as they wasted no time in recognizing my SPG status, thanking me for staying with them, handing me a bottled water, and offering a me a choice of one of two upgrades: The Standard Room with the “City View”, or an upgrade to a Junior Suite (the front desk staff leaned in and whispered, “take the junior suite – trust me”). I did, and he was right.

The Sheraton Club:

I was also informed that, thanks to my Starwood Preferred Guest Business Card by American Express, I would have free 24 hour access to the Sheraton Club lounge on the top floor and the following benefits:

The Junior Suite Upgrade:

The Junior Suite was clean, sexy, and spacious. There was a bedroom area opposite the wide-screen TV lounge area with L-shape couch.

The Bathroom:

The bathroom was a little on the small side, but still large on style.

Dining and Bar:

District on the Bloc:

Located on the bottom floor, District has a restaurant area and a semi-separate bar area. And yes, they have a great happy hour. Think Old Fashioneds and Cosmos, trust me.

The Bottom Line:

DTLA is one of L.A.’s current and most trendiest hot-spots. With the so many great new hotels nearby like the Ritz-Carlton, the JW Marriott, the new Hotel Indigo Hotel Downtown, and perhaps the hottest spot of them all – the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown, it’s hard to stand out.

But if you want a solid affordable pick in the heart of the DTLA mix that’s close to everything (like the subway) and has the amazing SPG service and style, you can’t go wrong with the Sheraton Downtown Los Angeles.

Highly Recommended.

Cheers!
