Rounding out my trio of stays in the San Diego area (with the Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa and the 1906 Lodge) is another hotel I’ve long had on my list…the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa.
Review: Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa
The Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa is a luxury resort located in Carlsbad, California, North of San Diego.Â
Full Disclosure: We stayed at the Park Hyatt Aviara during the pandemic (when services were limited).Â

The Arrival
The Park Hyatt Aviara is a valet-only resort so we dropped off our vehicle with the valet and headed inside to check-in.
The Resort Entrance
The Lobby
As we entered through the doors to the lobby, the front desk was located just to the left.
The World Of Hyatt Redemption
During our stay, a “1 King Garden View” room went for $599 a night ($717.88 total with taxes and fees).
However, because the Park Hyatt Aviara is a Category 5 Hyatt, we were able to book this stay for 20,000 World of Hyatt points (a CPP of 2.88 – which is a great redemption).
Even better, with the current Chase World of Hyatt credit card promotion we were able to get 25% of our points back, which meant this stay effectively cost us just 15,000 points (or a CPP of 4.79 – which is an incredible redemption)!

The Check-In
We were warmly greeted at the front desk, by name (which always kind of freaks me out, but I can see how some people would like it), upon check-in.
I was thanked for choosing to stay there and thanked for my World of Hyatt loyalty.
I was then told I had been upgraded to a “1 King Coastal View” room (which went for $807.48 per night, for an upgrade value of $89.60Â – in case you were wondering).
I was then handed a welcome package and room keys before being offered welcome beverages of two glasses of white wine.

The 1 King Coastal View Room (Upgrade)
We were upgraded to a room on the 4th Floor.
We were pleased to find the room expertly cleaned; everything in the room was shiny and spotless.
The Bedroom Area
The bed was firm and comfortable, although I did have to order up a firm pillow.
I loved that the room had automatic under-board night lighting.
The Living Area
Room Amenities
The room had an empty mini-fridge and an illy coffee machine (my favorite).
The Bathroom
Like the room, the bathroom was shiny and spotless as well.
The bathroom was large, well-lit and came with a separate water closet.
The exclusive and much sought after Le Labo Bergamote 22 was the resort’s toiletry brand of choice.

Breakfast At Pacific Point
We enjoyed a pleasant and relaxing breakfast and coffee at Pacific Point outside on the patio.
We went with the Chino Valley Organic Eggs Benedict and the Huevos Rancheros (both of which were delicious).
Dinner (In Room)
For dinner, we opted to dine off the In Room Dining menu.
Here, we went with the California Crafted Cheese Board, the Local Tuna Poke Bowl, and the Tahitian Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee.
Wow, dinner was excellent. My only criticism was the cheese board went a little heavy on the bleu cheeses (and I like bleu cheese). Nevertheless, we would order the same thing again in a heartbeat.

The Swimming Pool Areas
The swimming pool areas were great.
Although it was too cold to swim during our stay, I could see how this would be the perfect pool area for a hot California summer day.
Besides, is there a kid alive that wouldn’t love those pool slide tubes?
The Bottom-Line Review: Review: Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa
We absolutely loved our stay at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa.
The service, the rooms, the property, and the dining were all above and beyond excellent.
We enjoyed relaxing in the room just as much as relaxing outside the room.
We found the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa to be a true luxurious getaway and a “sweet spot” in the Hyatt portfolio for redeeming World of Hyatt points for great value.
