Leaving the city of Yangon behind, we were a couple of bourbons in from the lounge as we hopped on to our non-stop flight to Phuket, Thailand, where we’d be staying at the Le Meridian Phuket Beach Resort.

The Bottom-Review: Myanmar National Airlines – Flying Yangon (RGN) To Phuket (HKT) On An Embraer 190 AR (Phuket, Thailand)
Why, you ask, did we choose to fly Myanmar National Airlines from Yangon to Phuket?
Because it’s the ONLY non-stop flight from Yangon to Phuket (and not flying non-stop [when it can be avoided] is for suckers). All other flights from Myanmar to Thailand seem to be routed through Bangkok.
This was our second Myanmar National Airlines flight and our first jet experience in Myanmar (as they do love the ATR-72s). Nevertheless, the plane was empty, so the service was attentive (I’m assuming this has to be a money-losing route for the airline, and that it’s only kept operational because the airline is nationally-owned).
In all, this smooth flight took about 2 hours.
Final Review: Highly Recommended! This flight is the only non-stop option on this route – and it comes with plenty of space with Burmese service and hospitality.
Cheers!
