Having had an absolutely incredible time in Sri Lanka, including hiking the Sigiriya Lion Rock Trail, it was sadly time for me to leave.

How ever would I drown my tears? At a Priority Pass lounge with free booze of course.

Review: Lotus First Class Lounge, CMB Airport (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

For this review, I’ll look at one of Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport’s (CMB) two Priority Pass lounges, the Lotus First Class Lounge.

The entrance to the Lotus First Class Lounge

Hours & Location At CMB Airport:

The Lotus First Class Lounge is open 24 hours a day and located on the 1st floor, at the Pier (adjacent to Gates 6 & 7).

Conditions & Amenities:

There is a maximum stay of 6 hours at a time, and cardholders are limited to six guests.

This non-smoking lounge features TV, wi-fi internet, phone and fax, food, alcohol, and drinks.

The Check-In:

Check-in was standard for a Priority Pass lounge. They swiped my card and had me sign the receipt.

I was then directed to the wi-fi information in the desk.

The Lounge Area:

The lounge area itself was mid-size but relatively crowded. I was able to find a seat by the wall, but the charging outlets were few and far between (and all taken).

Overall, the lounge furniture was in need of a refresh. I found the chairs somewhat ragged, “broken in”, and well-worn past their prime, and the carpet had random stains on it.

Food & Drinks:

Refreshment-wise, there was nothing to complain about at the Lotus First Class Lounge.

There was a solid rack of mid-shelf hard alcohol, a decent spread of food in hotplates, and a refrigerator full of drinks, wine, and beer.

Notice the hard-stuff in the middle, and the coffee on the right, and the food in hotplates visible in the reflection

The Bottom-Line Review: Lotus First Class Lounge, CMB Airport (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

Sure, the furniture and carpeting of this lounge may have seen better days, and the lack of electrical outlets was annoying, but the food and drink spread more than made up for that. I mean, Lion Beer anybody?

Overall, this lounge provided the standard Priority Pass lounge experience and is far better than the no-lounge alternative.

Final Rating: Recommended

Cheers!
