Review: Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman (Montana)

Continuing our epic National-Park-during-the-pandemic road trip, we made our way from Glacier National Park to “the Yellowstone”.

We decided to stay in Bozeman, Montana, before making our way to the gates of Yellowstone National Park (about a hour and a half drive from Bozeman).

From what I’d heard about Bozeman, it was a town that could give Jackson, Wyoming, a run for the money in terms of bragging rights for the “hottest real-estate” in the Yellowstone region. Well that, and that Bozeman was just a great town.

When I found out IHG had just opened up the Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman, the decision of “where to stay” was made for me.

Review: Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman

Full Disclosure: We visited this hotel during the pandemic (when resort services were limited).

Arrival & Parking

As we are known to do, we arrived late at night (after checking out some of the joints on the Main Street).

I wasn’t exactly sure where to park, but I found plenty of free street parking on Willson Ave, a block from the trendy part of Bozeman’s Main Street.

With its proximity to Main Street, the Kimpton Armory Hotel had an ideal location – close to all the action, but just far enough away that the noise from the bars on the strip wouldn’t keep us up all night.

The Entrance & Lobby

The exterior of the Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman was a rare handsome combination of the elegant, authoritative, and modern – with just the right amount of art deco thrown in for good measure.

Similarly, the lobby of the hotel (which had that “still-shiny new” feel to it) followed the same decor cues, but contrasted those with an open-plan interior with large windows that were much bigger than they appeared from the outside.

The IHG Rewards Club Redemption

The nightly room rate for an “Essential 2 Queen Bed” room went for $357.32 during our stay.

However, I opted to use one of my Chase IHG Rewards Club credit card free award nights here (which usually max out at 40,000 points) for a redemption value of .09 CPP – excellent for an IHG Rewards Club redemption.

The Front Desk & Check-In

The staff at the front desk were very friendly and inviting and instantly thanked my for my status and IHG loyalty.

I was told I’d been given an upgrade to a higher floor and a “Deluxe 2 Queen Beds ” room.

At that moment, I mentioned the Kimpton “secret password” [at the time], and saw the attendant’s face light up, before she said, “I see you’ve mentioned the password. Well, the benefit for this promotion is going to be complimentary breakfast for two at the Fielding’s restaurant (which was located on the opposite side of the lobby from the building entrance)”.

She handed me my room key and pointed us to the elevators and we were off.

The Bedroom

Entering the bedroom, one thing quickly became apparent: Kimpton never disappoints with their originality.

The room was clean, well-lit, and modern; with the all the leather accents it was a perfect fit for Bozeman.

And yes, the room had all the usual Kimpton “quirks” you might imagine.

The Bathroom

Like the bedroom, the bathroom was a sleek and shiny, well-lit, specimen of cleanliness.

The popular Atelier Bloem brand were the Kimpton toiletries of choice (although I never could quite figure out what’s with all the different scent variations).

The [Blurry] View From The Room

That’s the new Element Hotel out there (on the left), my apologies for the blurry picture (it was early and I hadn’t had my coffee)

Breakfast At Fielding’s

The complimentary breakfast at Fielding’s (courtesy of the Kimpton Password) was an excellent benefit at an excellent restaurant.

They had excellent dark-roasted coffee, and we were “over the moon” with the delicious breakfast that consisted of an Avocado Toast dish and an Eggs, Sausage, Potatoes, and Toast breakfast.

The Bottom-Line Review: Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman

This review is easy. We loved our stay at the Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman.

The location was perfect, the hotel was new and beautiful, the service was excellent, the rooms were upscale (and clean and quirky), and the breakfast was hardy and delicious.

The Kimpton Armory Hotel Bozeman was everything we’d come to expect from Kimpton, so much so, that I really can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Bozeman. Highly Recommended.

Final Rating: 9.5 out of 10.
