From Andaz Napa, we headed on to Sacramento, California, before jumping on Highway 50 to Lake Tahoe, where we’d be staying at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side of the border.

Location & Parking
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe is located in Nevada’s Incline Village, on the northeastern corner of the lake.
FHOP Tip: Incline Village is one of the best locations on the lake, as it’s in a secluded and upscale neighborhood with lots of options for dining, shopping, drinking and hiking – as well golfing at some of Tahoe’s most beloved golf courses.
Parking at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe cost $29 for overnight self-parking and $50 for overnight valet parking. Parking was free for Hyatt Globalists.
Lobby
As I entered the hotel, I was taken aback by the cavernous size of the lobby.
The centerpiece of the lobby was a giant stone fireplace with a massive mirror and a log mantle adorned with cast iron ornaments.
Front Desk & Check-In
The staff at check-in were professional and friendly, I was offered a room upgrade from a “2 Double Beds” room to a “2 Queen Beds Balcony” room as a Hyatt Globalist.
Welcome Package
I was handed what was easily the largest Welcome Package I’ve ever received from any hotel.
The Welcome Package consisted of a map of the property, a newsletter, a voucher card for two items at the Tahoe Provisions store, a $5 match and play coupon (for use at the Grand Lodge Casino), a card to redeem a complementary s’mores kit, a card for complimentary breakfast at the Sierra Café, and finally, a set of room keys.

Bedroom Area
The bedroom was attractive, with a warm and woody aesthetic, and it was perfect for Lake Tahoe.

Bathroom
The bathroom was “old-school 90’s” with speckled marble galore, but clean and well-lit nevertheless, and came with Pharmacopia products.
Balcony
We had a small balcony with basically a view of the parking lot, even still, it was a nice place to relax and do some bird watching and beer drinking.

Cutthroat’s Saloon
We ate dinner at Cuthroat’s Saloon, which as it turned out, was a very popular sports bar where locals and tourists alike mingled.

Dinner At Cutthroat’s Saloon
We went with a Meat Lover’s Pizza and beer – in this case, a Revision Blonde – from a local Nevada brewery.
Cutthroat’s Saloon was an excellent choice (I mean just look at that pizza!)
Sierra Cafe
We ate at Sierra Café for breakfast (which was complementary for Hyatt Globalists).

Breakfast Menu At Sierra Cafe
We went with the Corned Beef Hash and an Omelet, both of which were not bad, but next time around I’d definitely try the Tahoe Benedict and/or the Blueberry Danish Pancakes.
Tahoe Provisions
Tahoe Provisions was the name of the coffee shop/convenience store where we cashed in our Welcome Package vouchers for free drinks and a S’mores kit.
The Property Interior
The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe also had a cool gift shop at the entrance to the hotel (next to the casino entrance) where we ended up picking up some nice gifts for friends and family.
Adventure Board
There was a posted activity schedule and the description of the weekly activities on the activity board.
The Property Exterior
The exterior of the property was, as one can imagine, gorgeous.
Swimming Pool
There was a swimming pool (and two jacuzzies!) and a small lazy river that linked swimmers from the outside pool to the pool in the interior of the hotel.
The Bottom-Line Review: Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa And Casino (Nevada)
We loved the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe.
I can only compare it to the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe (which I had stayed at just a few months prior).
The two properties had similarities in that they were both beautiful, upscale properties, with excellent service, excellent food, free s’mores, and plenty to do.
The properties differed in that the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe was about a 15-minute drive to Lake Tahoe via a long and winding forest road from the secluded mountain ski slopes on the California side of the border.
In contrast, Hyatt Regency was only about a block away from Lake Tahoe, in the second largest town on the lake, Incline Village (on the Nevada side of the border).
There was one other notable difference – the “fun factor”. Hyatt Regency had both a casino and a popular sports bar and seemed like an overall fun and exciting place where people liked to hang out.
Bang for the buck, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe really shined and was a great value. It’s perfect for couples or families looking for a hotel in an awesome location, with awesome things to do, near an awesome town on an awesome part of the lake.
I’ll be returning for sure.
