As we left the Bay Area, and headed for California’s Redwood Coast on our “National-Park-during-the-pandemic” road trip, we again needed a quick place to stay the night at a clean and safe hotel that wouldn’t break the [points] bank.

Enter the Hyatt Place Vacaville. The only problem? I had never heard of Vacaville.

Was it a good choice?

Review: Hyatt Place Vacaville (California)

Full Disclosure: We visited this hotel during the pandemic (when resort services were limited).

World Of Hyatt Category 2 Hotel: Redeemable for 8,000 points

The Location, Arrival And Parking

Although we arrived late at night, the hotel was easy to find and located in what appeared to be newly developed business park.

From the look of it, this section of Vacaville itself was new development chock-full with shopping outlets, restaurants, hotels, and car dealerships.

The hotel parking lot was rather full, but there were still a couple of decent parking parking spaces left.

The Lobby

Like the hotel’s exterior, the lobby was still new and shiny.

It was well-lit, comfortable, and completely on-brand with the Hyatt Place aesthetic.

The Front Desk & Check-In

We were warmly greeted at the front desk, and I was instantly recognized and thanked for my Hyatt loyalty.

I was told that the hotel was sold out for the night, but that I was given a room on a top floor.

The Room Entrance

The room was pleasantly “standard” for a Hyatt Place hotel.

The furniture, bedding, and carpeting were clean and spotless.

The Bedroom Area

This is the spot in the post where I would usually tell you if the bed was comfortable or not, but I don’t remember because I fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow.

Breakfast (Grab And Go)

The Hyatt Place Vacaville had a “grab and go” breakfast bag in the morning consisting of our choice of a warmed-up breakfast sandwich (think Jimmy Dean), yogurt, a banana and a granola bar.

There was also a “get-it-yourself” coffee and tea bar.

The breakfast was great, no complaints. There were even tables outside where we enjoyed our breakfast while being properly socially-distanced from the other guests.

The Bottom-Line Review: Hyatt Place Vacaville

I’ll admit it, I wasn’t expecting much from the Hyatt Place Vacaville.

However, I was really impressed with both the Hyatt Place hotel and it’s location in Vacaville just off Interstate 80 (almost exactly half-way between San Francisco and Sacramento).

The hotel was new and clean (and popular), the service was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast and coffee were exactly what we needed before we hit the road heading up the Redwood Coast.

At a WOH redemption rate of just 8,000 points, Hyatt Place Vacaville place is a steal.

Final Rating: 8 out of 10.
