Palm Springs is a great town.
While there is no shortage of great options for hotels in Palm Springs, there are only a handful of Hyatt properties.
Review: Hyatt Palm Springs (Palm Springs, California)
In this post, I’ll be covering on my recent stay at the Hyatt Palm Springs.
Location & Getting There
Hyatt Palm Springs is located smack in the middle of Palm Springs [proper], right in the heart of “the strip”.
This part of Palm Springs is LGBTQ-friendly and known for its shopping, nightlife, art galleries, and its many great restaurants.

FHOP Tip: There are many great places to eat here, but one of my favorites is TRIO. This spot is perfect for brunch and dinner – but be forewarned, this place is popular. Reservations are not required, but you’d be crazy to go without one.Â
Parking
The Hyatt Palm Springs has parking in their garage for $27 a day.
You can also park on the street, but this could be challenging depending on the time of day.
FHOP Tip: I’ve found that you can usually find parking nightly on Amado Street (just west of N. Palm Canyon Drive). Best of all, it’s free.Â
The Redemption
The Hyatt Palm Springs is a Category 3 World of Hyatt hotel, meaning rooms are redeemable here for 12,000 points a night.
Per the below, rooms can run $417.34 a night, so redeeming 12,000 points can be a great value. On this redemption, I was able to get 3.48 cpp!
The Check-In
Check-in was fast and easy (as expected). I was thanked for my loyalty, told of the parking options, and then handed by room key.

The 2 Double-Beds Suite
The bedroom was small, as were the beds. But they were clean and comfortable.
However, there was no hiding this room was showing its age was in need of a refresh.

Double-beds? I think not. These were more like twin beds. Notice the wear on the headboards

The Suite Room With Fold-Out Bed
The suite room area was the best part of this room.
Large and spacious – with its own TV, couches, and balcony access – this was the perfect place to hang-out or entertain.

Now, we can get the party started!
The Bathroom
The bathroom was standard, it was clean but somewhat outdated.

The Balcony
The other great feature of this room was the balcony. It was large and had perfect views of the strip and the surrounding Palm Springs area.

SHARE Small Plate Bistro
The SHARE Small Plate Bistro was the in-house restaurant of the Hyatt Palm Springs, and was also the place where breakfast is served.

HooDoo Crafted Cocktails And Food
Outside, the Hyatt Palm Springs has another great spot to hang-out, HooDoo crafted cocktails and food.
You can’t tell from this early-morning picture below, but HooDoo is a very popular place for drinks in the afternoon, for guests and non-guests alike.

HooDoo in the morning. Don’t worry, this place will get packed in the afternoon.
The Lobby Art Gallery
As I mentioned before, there is a cool little art gallery just behind the front desk (on the right) on the way to the elevators.

Showing Its Age – Complete Remodel Coming Soon
Yes, the Palm Springs Hyatt is showing its age. You can tell it’s been loved to death.
For this reason, I’ve been told Hyatt is giving this property the complete remodel treatment in 2020.

The Bottom-Line Review: Hyatt Palm Springs (Palm Springs, California)
The Hyatt Palm Springs has a lot of things going for it. Perfect location, check. Awesome-sized suites, check. Cool places to hang out for drinks, check.
The 1986 architectural design of this Hyatt is uniquely Palm Springs and it is a charming and seamless part of this old desert town. Did I mention the balconies are great?
The negative to this hotel is that it has been loved to death and is showing its age (which is why it’ll be getting a renovation). There is also no club lounge (for that, you’ll need the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa).
Oh, and what was up with those mini “double-beds”?
Final Rating: Recommended for its location, 80’s charm, and its great World of Hyatt redemption value.
Cheers!
