As you know, I’m a huge fan of Hyatt hotels.
So I’ll admit it’s strange that although I’ve stayed at some amazing Hyatt hotels around the world (Paris, Bali, Costa Rica), I’ve never actually stayed at a Hyatt Centric branded hotel.
That is, until now.
So how did the Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach stack up?

About Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach
Here’s the information from the official Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach website:
The World Of Hyatt Redemption
This Hyatt Centric is a Category 3 Hyatt property, redeemable for 12,000 points.
On the night I stayed there, the price of a 1 King Bed room went for $469.08 USD.
This meant my World of Hyatt Redemption was 3.91 CPP (which is excellent for a Hyatt redemption)!
The Lobby
The hotel lobby (and the hotel itself) appeared nearly brand new.
It was smartly designed with an aesthetic that was somewhere in-between a Hyatt Place and a Hyatt Regency.
The hotel featured plenty of wood panelling, track lighting, boutique carpets, and green plants to accentuate the natural light of the open-spaced interior.
Check-In
I was warmly greeted and thanked for my World of Hyatt loyalty.
Although I had booked a “1 King Bed” room, I was pleasantly informed that I was being upgraded to an “Executive King” suite.

The Executive King [Upgrade]
As I entered the room, I was surprised to see the Executive King room upgrade was a large corner room with excellent views of the Pike below.
The room was well-lit and almost so clean that it appeared no one had ever stayed in the room before.
The Bathroom
Like the bedroom, the bathroom was very bright and extremely clean.
The Hyatt Centric used the Bee Kind brand of toiletries.
The Living Area
The living are was spacious and comfortable, with a flat-screen TV, a couch, and a work desk.

The Bottom-Line Review: Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach
By almost all measures, I was pleasantly surprised with the Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach.
It had a great location in Long Beach (walking distance to the Pike outlets, the Long Beach Aquarium, and the Waterfront), it had wonderful service (thanks for the great upgrade!), and it had smartly designed rooms that looked brand new.
The only [minor] negatives I found were the fitness center (which was literally just a small room with no weight machines) and the Pike’s parking garage that [somehow] did not take credit cards (really, an ATM machine?) – but that wasn’t the fault of the Hyatt Centric.
Final Rating: 7.75/10 – A new, clean, and sexy hotel with an excellent location in an awesome part of Long Beach, California. At 3.91 CPP (before the upgrade!), the Hyatt Centric The Pike Long Beach was an absolute steal.
