After the 2019 devaluation of American Express’s Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) program (wherein FHR removed dining credits at most Las Vegas properties), I hadn’t used the FHR benefit for sometime.
Review: Fine Hotels & Resorts – Wynn Las Vegas (Las Vegas, NV)
I decided to dust of the ol’ Platinum card to checkout a hotel I hadn’t stayed out before, the Wynn Las Vegas.
About The Fine Hotels & Resorts Program:
First, a quick refresher on the Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) program.
How To Use It:
You’ll need a premium American Express Platinum credit card that grants you access to the FHR program. Both the American Express Platinum card and the American Express Business Platinum card will work.
 Â
The Benefits Of The Fine Hotels & Resorts Program:
American Express’s FHR program is an under-utilized benefit for many Platinum users, but it provides tremendous value when used at the right hotels.
The standard perks of the program include the following 6 benefits:
The Benefits Vary By Property:
The “unique amenity” at the Wynn Las Vegas is a $100 Spa services credit. Additionally, the “daily breakfast for two” benefit is $40 per person per day. So for two people, this benefit is worth $180 at minimum!
About The Wynn Las Vegas:
The Wynn Las Vegas (and its adjoined sister-property, Encore) is generally regarded as one of the ritziest – if not THE ritziest – property on the Las Vegas Strip.
With world-class fine dining and high-end shopping at the Wynn and Encore Shops, the Wynn Las Vegas is a premier sin-city destination.
The Check-In: The Invited Guest Line
Because every hotel patron is treated as an “invited guest” here, there was no special line for FHR guests, just one large line for everybody.
With that said, the line moved fast as the large front desk was fully staffed.
The Check-in: The Front Desk Service
Now, I have to mention the service.
I have stayed at almost every hotel on the Las Vegas strip – twice – but I never encountered such professional service as I got at the Wynn. That’s really saying something.
I was helped by a lovely young woman who took great care and paid attention to every detail and every request that I had. She was very friendly, kept telling me “no request is too large”, and offered me help with my bag (kinda funny for just a backpack), free early check-in, complementary bottled water, information on the [free] parking and valet, before upgrading me to a high floor with a “strip view”.
She then proceeded to pull out a map of the property, asked what I wanted to do during my stay, then provided me detailed recommendations for each with a star for each point on the map. I was truly blown away by her service and I don’t say that lightly (or often).
The Check-in: The Welcome Letter
This lucrative benefit of $180 in credits was the single biggest reason for me booking through the FHR program.
I received the following Welcome Letter:
After I was handed the FHR Welcome Letter, the woman at the front desk informed me the Wynn Spa was going through a renovation, but that I could use the Spa at Encore to utilize the Spa credit.
Rating: 5 out of 5 points for the Wynn Las Vega’s immaculate front-desk service.
The Check-in: The Room Upgrade
My room was initially booked as a Wynn Resort King, but the woman at the front desk was able to upgrade me to a high floor at Encore with a direct view of the strip.
Rating: 5 out of 5 points for the high-floor upgrade with a “strip view”.
The Room:
The room was very clean, tidy, and surprisingly 100% stain-free (a rarity for Las Vegas).
Every sheet was cropped straight and tight, every glass top was polished, and every pillow was properly fluffed.
Room Amenities:
The Bathroom:
The View From The Room:
Using the $100 Spa Services Credit
As I mentioned earlier, the Spa with the Wynn was closed for renovation. As such, I was directed to the Spa at Encore.

As I am one to do in Las Vegas, I may have tied one on the night before (I mean, we’re talking Vegas, right?).
After surprisingly little convincing after heavy drinking the night before, I convinced my friend to check out the Spa with me by offering him free $40 day-pass and promising him it would cure his hangover.
We arrived at the 7:00 am opening and were met by the attendant. He offered us coffee, juices, and various snacks before giving us a brief tour of the Spa facilities before leading us to our lockers.
The Spa at Encore was impressive. Really impressive.
We proceeded to spend the next couple of hours relaxing at the various stations including the waterfall showers, steam room, sauna, hot pools, cold pools, heated chairs, and finally the standard showers.
We couldn’t believe how great the Spa at Encore was or that it was only $40 for a day-pass (free with the $100 Spa FHR credit).
Is this what I have been missing? When all was said and done, I felt like a million bucks.

Using the $40 Per Person Breakfast Credit
Having successfully cured ourselves of our hangovers, we decided to eat breakfast at the popular “The Cafe” (open 24-hours a day).
The menu was expansive and reasonably priced. For 3 adults ordering large multi-item breakfasts and coffee drinks, the bill came out to $85.00, almost entirely covered by the $80 breakfast credit ($40 per person, up to 2 people).
Items include made-to-order breakfasts, sandwiches, coffee and pastries, and a selection of pressed juices.
24-Hour Dining At Allegro:
During our stay, we tried the extremely late-night dinner at the 24-hour cafe spot Allegro, and it did not disappoint.
The flatbread pizza was heavenly and the pasta was cooked to fine Italian perfection. We washed it all down with some Stella beers. Allegro was on-point with their food and service (even at 3:00 am), impressive for a 24-hour cafe.
The Check-out: Guaranteed 4:00 pm Check-out
I didn’t get to use this due to the customary mad rush back to LA. Regardless, this was given to me the attendant at the front desk “just in case”.
Rating:Â 5 out of 5 for the placing the Late Check-out benefit on my account, even though I didn’t use it.
The Check-out: The Final Folio Invoice
After quickly reviewing the bill, I was pleasantly surprised to find the bill was 100% correct (the first time) and that my stay would be billed through my American Express Platinum card on file (which meant 5x Membership Points).
Whats-more, I took advantage of the Amex Offer on my Platinum card for 6,000 Membership Rewards points when I spend $300 or more at the Wynn (a value of $92.40 as a holder of the Amex Business Platinum card).
The Net Cost Through FHR:
When all was said and done, the final bill was:
$336.28 (resort fee of $40 + taxes of $32.73 + resort tax of $5.35 + additional gratuity)
With the $180 in FHR credits ($20 0f which went unused at the Spa), the net cost for the entire stay was:
$336.28 – $160 = $176.28
Factor in the Amex Offer ($92.40), and the final price was $83.88! Awesome!
Rating: 5 out of 5 for the seamless service and accurate billing at Wynn Las Vegas.
The Bottom Line Review: Fine Hotels & Resorts – Wynn Las Vegas
Overall, I found the American Express Fine Hotels and & Resorts (FHR) program to be perfectly implemented at the Wynn Las Vegas – making for a truly relaxing and luxuriously upscale stay.
Like the similar Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection program, Fine Hotels and & Resorts truly enhanced the experience and value of the stay. The Spa at Encore turned out to be an amazing benefit.
My final rating of the Fine Hotels and & Resorts experience at Wynn Las Vegas was a definitive 10 out of 10 due to the Wynn’s exemplary service and overall perfect execution of the FHR program.
Cheers!
