Location & Parking

Candlewood Suites El Paso is located in Northeast El Paso (near the Patriot Freeway and Woodrow Bean Transmountain Loop 375) near the site where Cohen Stadium once stood, home to the (now defunct) El Paso Diablos Minor League Baseball team.

Parking is free and plentiful at the Candlewood Suites.

FHOP Tip: Nearby (within walking distance) you’ll find several options for shopping, dining, and entertainment including a Walmart Supercenter, AMC theatres, an Applebee’s, a Chili’s, a Starbucks, and that ol’ enduring Texas favorite – a Whataburger.

IHG Rewards Club Redemption And Booking Options

  • Average Price Per Night During Stay: $132 USD
  • Room Type: “1 Qn Studio Suite Full Kitchen”
  • IHG Rewards Club Points Required: 30,000 points (per night)
  • CPP for Redemption: 0.44 CPP
  • Point Redemption Value: Poor for IHG Rewards Club

Due to the low CPP value, I opted for a cash booking.

Front Desk & Check-In

Check-in was quick and easy, I was recognized for my IHG status and I was given an upgrade to a “1 King Bed Studio Suite (a value of $10).

The Lobby

This Candlewood Suites property appeared nearly brand new; the lobby was well-lit and clean, and the front desk was staffed 24 hours a day.

Welcome Letter

Bedroom

The bedroom was a modest-sized suite, but it did have a large full-sized kitchen. In addition to the king bed, there was a living area that consisted of an office desk, a flat screen television, and a dresser (as well as a full-sized closet).

Kitchen Area

Perhaps the best thing about the room was the full-sized kitchen, which came with a regular-sized refrigerator, a sink, a coffee machine, a microwave, and a dishwasher – as well as various dishware and cups, silverware and cooking utensils.

Bathroom

The bathroom was “standard issue” for a Candlewood Suites and VO5 soap and J.R Watkins [communal] toiletries were the brands of choice.

Complimentary Coffee Station

Downstairs was a communal coffee station which served complimentary coffee all day, as well as a fully functioning laundry room and fitness center.

The Bottom-Line Review: Candlewood Suites El Paso (TX)

Overall, I really liked my stay at the Candlewood Suites El Paso. The property was new and clean, with good location in Northeast El Paso (although the location is a little far from most of El Paso’s main attractions).

One of the only negatives I could find with the hotel was the poor redemption value at 30,000 points a night (book with cash).

I would recommend the Candlewood Suites El Paso for business travelers, people traveling on an extended stay, travelers that are just “passing through” and looking for a quiet night’s rest, and for really anybody that has any business being in Northeast El Paso.

Final Rating: 7.5 out of 10
