Tourists and surfers who have visited Indonesia no doubt know of the country’s most famous (and popular) alcoholic beverage, Bintang Beer.
But is it any good?

Description Of Bintang Beer
Bintang is a light, golden lager-style beer with a 4.7% alcohol content.
Brewed as a pilsner with malt as the main ingredient, this beer is perfectly suited for the tropics – particularly under the Bali sun.
I found it to be clean, flavorful, and easy drinking. And good thing, it was one of the few readily available beers in Indonesia.
About Bintang Beer
If you have had this before, there’s a good chance you thought there was something familiar about Bintang Beer.
Well, that’s because Bintang Beer is a straight-up localized version of Heineken Beer. It was founded by Heineken in Indonesia in 1931.
To this day, the beer even shares Heineken’s trademark “red star” on its label.
The Bottom-Line Review: Bintang Beer (Indonesia)
I know what you are thinking, “so this is just a Heineken repackaged as a Bintang”?
To that I’d say, “no”.
It’s lighter, sweeter, and less complex than a Heineken (or a Tiger Beer for that matter), which may sound horrible, but is actually a plus in the tropics. It reminded me of Kingfisher Beer (from India).
I drank these all day like water and never once experienced the phenomenon known as a “Heineken headache”.
Would I drink this out of the tropics? Probably not, but it’s not meant for that anyways.
Final Rating: Highly Recommended – Especially in Indonesia (where it’s pretty much either Bintang, Heineken or Tiger).
