Review: Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 (Thailand)

As the de facto gateway city for many traveling to Southeast Asia, Bangkok is known for its great hotels (like the St. Regis Bangkok) at incredibly reasonable prices.

During my last trip to Thailand,  my itinerary had me staying in Bangkok for just one night (with an early flight departure), so I opted to try an even more reasonably priced hotel – the Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11.

Was that a good choice?

The Entrance

With just a 30 minute ride from BKK International Airport, I quickly arrived at the hotel (even with traffic).

The Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 is centrally located in a very touristy part of the city next to many restaurants and attractions, not to mention Sukhumvit Road and the infamous Soi 11.

The Front Desk & Check-In

Splashed in neon colors and vibrant artwork, the hotel was very busy when I made it to the lobby.

There was no dedicated line for Bonvoy elite guests at the front desk, so I waited about 10 minutes to check-in.

Luckily, check-in was fast and friendly, and I was quickly handed a key to my room.

The Room

The room itself was very clean, with a decor that fit Aloft’s “trademark” young, modern, and minimalist aesthetic – only with a Southeast Asian twist.

Surprisingly, although the hotel itself was heavily-trafficked, there was nothing in the room to suggest heavy wear and tear. For all intents and purposes, the room looked relatively “new”.

Room Amenities

The room was well-stocked with amenities, and everything for sale was refreshingly reasonably priced.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was well-lit and spotless, and there were plenty of complimentary water bottles to use for hangovers (or the brushing of one’s teeth).

The View From The Room

FHOP Tip: Our room had a view of the neighboring Fraser Suites, which is also the home of one of my favorite rooftop bars in the world – Above Eleven. It’s definitely worth checking out for a fancy dinner date or just drinks with friends.

Nightlife

Like the rooms, the property shared the young, modern, minimalist vibe albeit with a heavier dose of neon.

The Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 sported the WXYZ Bar, as well as the Levels Club nightclub & terrace.

The Bottom-Line Review: Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11

Overall, I was pleased with my stay at Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11.

Although the hotel is clearly geared toward young couples and singles looking to party, the Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 is a cost-effective hotel good even for “passers through” who just need a safe and clean hotel in a walkable part of the city for the night (however, I wouldn’t recommend it for families traveling with children).

As a Bonvoy Category 2 hotel, the Aloft can be reserved for as little as 10,000 points, but its standard rates are often low enough that it may be a better value to just book the stay with cash.

Either way, the Aloft Bangkok Sukhumvit 11 is a great value.

Final Rating: 7.5 out of 10.
