Editor’s Note: This post is part of my Myanmar–Thailand trip to Asia. For more on this trip, check out my other posts on Myanmar, Thailand, and Japan.
Both “Day 1” and “Day 2“ at Inle Lake were simply awesome.
After some hard drinking the night before, followed by a 1-hour freezing boat ride on the Lake, we arrived back to Heho airport in one piece (although a little worse for wear).
Review: Air KBZ – Flying Heho (HEH) to Thandwe (SNW) (Thandwe, Myanmar)
We quickly check-in at the Air KBZ window [below], and then made our way to the boarding gate.
This is when my friend handed me a Myanmar Beer and said, “you know dude, I’m glad you booked this trip. I don’t even know where we are going next. Ngapali? Never heard of it”.
“Well, I’ve never heard of it either before I booked it, but it looked cool in the pictures”. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect.
I did know that we’d be staying at the Hilton Ngapali Resort & Spa in Thandwe and this was one of the only daily direct flights to get there.
Flying On An Air KBZ ATR 72-600
We had flown Air KBZ from mandalay (MDL) to Bagan (NYU) several days prior and really enjoyed the experience.
Flying at about 11,000 feet, this flight’s total airtime from HEH to SNW clocked in at just under 2 hours.
The flight was about 2/3’s full. Pilots provided flight and weather updates in both Burmese and English.
The Meal Service
The airline provided free lunch and beverage service (water or juice) and handed out a lunch box with some type of meat-pie sandwich and a sweet roll.
Landing At SNW Airport
Here’s a video of the final approach into Thandwe (SNW Airport).

Review: Air KBZ – Flying Heho (HEH) to Thandwe (SNW) (Thandwe, Myanmar)
Well, another great and easy flight on Air KBZ.
By now, I think it’s safe to say we had both become fans of the airline and I could easily see why they were the most popular airline in Myanmar.
Maybe just stay away from those meat-pie sandwiches.
Air KBZ From HEH-SNW: Highly Recommended.
Cheers!
