Hidden Gems: Devil’s Club Brewery Co. (Juneau, Alaska)

On a summer cruise stop aboard Princess Cruise’s Royal Princess, we had the chance to visit Devil’s Club Brewery Co. in Juneau, Alaska. Located in the heart of Juneau’s historic district, the brewery (named after the notoriously painful native Devil’s Club plant) is just a stone’s throw from the cruise ship docks, making it a convenient and popular stop for visitors. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming (although they do have some NSFW (or kids) artwork hanging on the wall).

The Beers

We had limited time, but we still managed to try two beers, the Blueberry Pie Face and the Tube Creek Hazy IPA.

Blueberry Pie Face

First up: The Blueberry Pie Face. This beer was a seriously delicious pastry sour ale that tastes like a face full of lemon meringue pie, with tangy, sugary goodness and a thick, creamy body. I do love me a sour ale, especially in the summertime.

This one blew me away. I rank it in the Top 5 beers I’ve ever had. Yes, it is that good!

Tube Creek Hazy IPA

Next up was the Tube Creek Hazy IPA. While IPA’s are generally not my thing, this one was incredibly smooth with a full body and dry-hopped with Vista, Cashmere, and Mosaic Spectrum.

Although it had a firm a citrusy and aromatic profile,  its smoothness made it easy for me to drink it down.
