Since its introduction, the Chase World of Hyatt credit card has been widely hailed as one of the most valuable cards in travel-hacking…and it’s one of my personal favorites.
Earning & Using The Free Annual Night Awards On The Chase World Of Hyatt Credit Card
Why you ask? Well, it comes with a whole bunch of perks, including strong earning categories, 5 nights worth of status credits [automatically], plus an additional 2 nights status credits for every $5,000 you spend on the card.
Oh, and did I mention an automatic free annual night just for holding this card? Don’t forget, you have the ability to earn an additional free night when you spend $15,000 in the card membership year.
Earning The Free Award Nights
As I just mentioned, you’ll automatically get one free annual award night at a category 1-4 hotel (this alone can be worth over $500!), plus an additional free award night when you spend $15,000 in a card member year.
How To Know When You’ve Earned The Free Night
Unfortunately, unlike the free weekend nights from the Hilton Honors Cards from American Express, Chase doesn’t make tracking your spending toward the $15,000 online easy.
I recommend tracking this spending yourself – but, you can always just call, chat, or secure message Chase to ask about your spending progress.
When you do earn the free night, you’ll get the following email to confirm.
Using The Free Annual Night Awards
Hyatt makes using the free annual night award easy.
Simply login to the app or the website, find a property you would like to book up to 15,000 points a night (in a category 1-4 hotel), and select “Free Night” under the Promotional Award header.
The Bottom-Line: Earning & Using The Free Annual Night Awards On The Chase World Of Hyatt Credit Card
I primarily put my Hyatt and non-bonused spending on this card because I’ve found that spending $15,000 a year will earn me a minimum of 15,000 World of Hyatt points (at 1x) and 6 nights toward status (in addition to the card’s automatic 5 nights worth of status).
Earning this 15,000 points, coupled with the free annual night after spending $15,000 (redeemable for a category 1-4 property), allows me to essentially earn about 4%+ back on all my non-bonused spending.
I’ve found redeeming Hyatt points for about a 2.5+ cpp return to be relatively easy, so this is usually a great deal any way you slice it.
Cheers!
