I’ve always wondered what I would do if I got into this situation. Well, today I found out via written conformation from American Express chat.
Confirmed: Can You Move An Amex Offer To A Card Once It’s Been Added To Another Card?
I’m going to assume everybody knows what Amex Offers are by now.
Well, it used to be that you could load multiple “same” offers on multiple cards via the “multiple browser tabs trick”. Amex has since closed that loophole. Now you can only load an Amex offer once – to one card only.
My “Rookie” Mistake
Earlier today, I saw a pretty great Amex Offer that I wanted to use on my Hilton Honors Business Card.
Instead of loading it to my Hilton Honors Business Card, I accidentally loaded it to my [very similar looking] Hilton Honors Card. The second I hit “add to card” I realized my very stupid mistake.
Would American Express Help “Fix” My Mistake?
I instantly ran over to my computer and opened up a chat. I notified Amex of my mistake and how I would like the unused offer moved to another card.
Below is the important excerpt of that chat:
The Bottom Line – Confirmed: Can You Move An Amex Offer To A Card Once It’s Been Added To Another Card?
So what did I learn here? For one, don’t make dumb mistakes. Additionally, from the written chat confirmation above, Amex doesn’t “have the option to move” an offer [once it’s been added to a card].
Whats does this mean for us going forward? You better be damn sure you add the offer to the right card.
Maybe this will change in the future (it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal for Amex to allow this), but for now, there are apparently no second chances with Amex Offers once they are added to a card.
Yikes.
