I’ll file this one under “travel fail”.
PSA: Honolulu’s Plumeria Lounge Opens At…
So there I was, 5:00 am and ready to leave my plush little hotel, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort (and its free breakfast), to get to the airport to catch my 6:30 am flight to Maui.
The plan was to get to HNL and grab free breakfast (and perhaps a wakie-wakie drinkie-drinkie) at The Plumeria Lounge using my Priority Pass.
The plan was going great, I checked-in early, cleared security with TSA-Pre, followed the signs to the lounge and then…
…whomp, whomp. The Plumeria Lounge was closed.
Sure enough, the sign posted said, “opens at 9:00 am”. I pulled out the Priority Pass app and confirmed it – 9:00 am.
Lesson Learned:
Always verify lounge hours through an app like American Express, Priority Pass, or Lounge Buddy before you make your plans. Not all lounges open at 6:00 am even if the Airport does.
Coming from a big city like Los Angeles, its easy to forget there is such a thing as “island time”; the struggle is real. In this case, my lack of planning cost me a free breakfast and a Bloody Mary. That won’t happen again.
Cheers!
