Review: Hotel Figueroa, The Unbound Collection By Hyatt
Hotel Figueroa, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, is a historic hotel in downtown Los Angeles that was originally built in 1926. Recently refurbished, it has been restored to its 1920s Spanish Colonial splendor, featuring 268 rooms and suites. The hotel boasts two restaurants, three bars, a breathtaking lobby, beautiful private event spaces, and a relaxing pool area reminiscent of Palm Springs or Santa Barbara.
The refurbishment has preserved the hotel’s historic charm while incorporating modern amenities and stylish decor. Guests can enjoy brunch at Cafe Fig, the chic Mediterranean restaurant Deme, Bar Magnolia (a stylish bar and lounge), and covered terrace dining beside an outdoor pool at La Casita. The hotel’s prime location near the Downtown L.A. Live entertainment complex and the Grammy Museum makes it an ideal choice for both leisure and business travelers.

The Bottom-Line Review: Hotel Figueroa, The Unbound Collection By Hyatt
Hotel Figueroa, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, earns a solid 8 out of 10 for its well-done blend of historic charm and modern style. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, which is both a positive and a negative. On the plus side, it offers convenient access to the subway and major attractions like the L.A. Live entertainment complex and the Crypto.com arena. On the negative side, non-valet parking can be hard (or expensive) to come by, there is noise from the surrounding area, and DTLA is generally known as a more high-crime area. Â
That said, the recently refurbished Spanish decor throughout the hotel adds a unique touch that gives the hotel a real personality. The service was great, as a Globalist I was given a complimentary room upgrades to a nice-sized and elegant suite. The hotel’s pool area was another standout feature with a great bar that felt like a hidden oasis downtown. Travelers that have plans to be in Downtown LA (especially World of Hyatt members or travelers without children), need look no further than Hotel Figueroa, as it is a great bang-for-the-buck option with a historic and sophisticated charm.
FINAL RATING: 8 out of 10
