For our first trip to California’s wine country, I wanted to go big.
Having just checked out the Hyatt Regency Sonoma, it was on to one of the newest jewels in Hyatt’s California portfolio, Alila Napa Valley.

About Alila Napa Valley
Location & Parking
True to the official marketing, the Alila Napa Valley is ideally located in the very scenic northwest corner of the town of St. Helena. The town and the surrounding landscapes are absolutely idyllic.
What I didn’t realize (until I got there) was that the hotel actually sat on a plot of vineyard immediately adjacent to the Beringer Estate.
Parking was by valet only, but was [refreshingly] included in the $55 resort fee (as opposed to a separate charge).
FHOP Tip: If you have the time, you should checkout Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch in St. Helena. Warning: it’s a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation. The happy hour is not to be missed. Â
World Of Hyatt Redemption
The nightly rate during our stay started at $1,387.01 USD for a “2 Queen Bed with Balcony” room.
However, because the Alila Napa Valley was a World of Hyatt Category 7 property, I was booked the room for just 30,000 points.
This was a phenomenal redemption value for Hyatt points at 4.62 CPP.
Front Desk & Check-In
Check-in was handled in the petite front room of the office in the Acacia House.
I was warmly welcomed, recognized for my Globalist status, quickly checked-in, and informed I’d been been upgraded to a “2 Queen Beds Vineyard View High Floor with Balcony” room.

The Walk To The Room
Surprisingly, the grounds of the hotel were not as large as I had imagined. Unsurprisingly, they were gorgeous.

Bedroom Area
The room itself was attractively upscale, modern, elegant, and minimalist.
But the real star of the room was the view of the vineyard (which was just incredible).
Bathroom #1 (Entrance Half-Bath)
Immediately upon entering the room was a half-bath (water closet and sink).

Room Amenities
The room came with a complimentary bottle of wine, as well as Nespresso coffee and tea.

The Minibar
This Alila property came with a $25 mini-bar credit, and good thing too.
There were so many options for delicious goodies to pair with the vino.
Bathroom #2 (Full Bath)
Across the the closet, was the second bathroom which consisted of another sink, a shower, and a bathtub.

Breakfast (Room Service)
For breakfast (complimentary for Hyatt Globalists), we opted for room service for convenience (but also because the Acacia House was closed to to the pandemic).
We went with a vanilla latte, and orange juice, two eggs your style, and the Acacia House pastries.
As expected, everything was excellent.

The Bottom-Line Review: Alila Napa Valley (CA)
I can only muster two words to describe this stay: truly exceptional (and this is coming from a dude who doesn’t even really like wine).
Everything about our stay at the Alila Napa Valley was excellent. Everything. The service, the resort, the food, and even the wine. Excellent. The views of the vineyard were simply incredible, especially at sunset.
The Alila Napa Valley is an absolute jewel in the World of Hyatt portfolio, as well as an unexpectedly amazing and uniquely Californian experience that is (of course) best paired with good friends or significant others.
Final Rating: 10 out of 10.
