A great thing about the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon is that you don’t need to hold status as an elite to access the Club Lounge, you can simply “buy your way in” for a modest fee by booking a Club Room.
That’s exactly what we did. But is the Club upgrade worth it?
The Chatrium Club Floor Check-In (9th Floor)
After a brief “general check-in” on the first-floor lobby of the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, we were directed to the Club floor (9th floor) to complete our Club Room check-in.
As soon as we stepped out of the elevator, we noticed the 9th floor dedicated Club Desk for Club Room guests on the left.

Upon check-in, we received access and more information on the Club Lounge, including this Welcome Letter.

This club lounge was layed out in an “upside-down u” shape and is relatively large. It featured a television, several couches and chairs, and a food and drink area.
Alcoholic drinks and other specialty items could be ordered from the menu at the Club Lounge desk. There seemed to be plenty of space to accommodate all guests to the lounge.

Throughout the day, the lounge featured small breads and dessert items. There was also coffee and tea and a small microwave.

From 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm the Chatrium Club Lounge had a “Cocktail Experience”.
During this time, not only were the alcoholic drinks (from the special Cocktail Experience menu) complimentary, but the Club Lounge featured an expanded spread of sushi, pizza-stuffed breads, deli-meats and other items.
We were there for the drinks (of course) and we managed to polish-off maybe 6 or 7 Grand Royals and Cokes (each), ensuring we made the most of our “Cocktail Experience”.

The Bottom-Line Review: Chatrium Club Lounge, Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon (Yangon, Myanmar)
In my opinion, the Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon upgrade to the Club Room is a simple decision.
Per the welcome letter, the Club Room upgrade comes with a host of benefits including the Chatrium Club Lounge for only a modest fee. The space is relaxing and the snacks are filling – but the “Cocktail Experience” is where the lounge really shines with its sushi and alcoholic beverages.
If you are considering upgrading to the Club Room, let me make it simple for you: “just do it already”.
