Having tried – and liked – two local Burmese brews (Myanmar Beer and Mandalay Strong Beer), I was thirsting for more and ready to try a third beer, Dagon Lager Beer.
Would the third brew be a winner as well?
Review: Dagon Lager Beer (Myanmar)
We found this beer at Weather Spoon’s Restaurant in Nyaung-U (Bagan).
Dagon Lager Beer Description & Review
This [hard to find] 5% alcohol beer poured a light golden color and had a light-to-medium carbonation and almost no head.
Using the more widely available Myanmar Beer as a benchmark, Dagon Beer was noticeably much lighter. Although it’s a straight lager, it seemed to straddle the line of a light beer. It was watery with very weak front end flavors that I would describe as “grassy with a hint of honey” followed by a dry aftertaste.
While not an offensive brew by any means, the most notable thing about this beer was the lack of anything notable. Dagon Lager Beer was our least favorite Burmese brew of the three we had tried up until that point. We still finished it though.
Cheers!
